Communication

Our form of communication is asynchronous by default. We also use Loom to communicate besides text (Slack) to reduce unnecessary meetings. The main goal of this document is to help you communicate effectively with the team. Below are some rules that we got from our experience.

Tips on Effective Communication

  • Work chat in public Slack channels.
  • Clarify if there are ambiguities.
  • Clear and direct communication. Avoid greeting only. Provide context and ask completely what you want. See example
  • Avoid rhetorical questions. E.g. are you going to review my pull request today? while you know they have to review your PR.
  • No meeting with more than three participants and a meeting should be no longer than 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the agenda before the meeting, take notes during the meeting, and then finalize the meeting with action items.
